Children: Bringers of Humility

My daughter has greatly expanded her vocabulary in the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately, that's not always a good thing.

When I get home from work, one of the first things I do is go upstairs and change into real clothes. This evening, I happened to come downstairs holding the shirt I intended to wear, and was shirtless for a few seconds.

My daughter looked over at me, frowned, and said "Da...shirt ON!"

I guess that doesn't speak well of my 35 year-old physique.

Nat and I had a great time building a snowman the other day. I got a bit carried away with my ball rolling as the snow was perfectly sticky and fun. So at one point I realized I wouldn't be able to lift the thing and had to do some adjusting :) Nat was helping patting and smoothing once I heaved the belly and head up on the snowman butt.

A few days later we went out and used our snowman kit from our friends Jennie and Dave, although by then the snowman had frozen solid so it was a bit of a challenge. We were able to pound everything in except his pipe. A pretty respectable snowman if I do say so myself. But today it is raining and warm. Could be a rough day for the snowman...

Nap Stripping

Lately Natalie has a fascination with nakedness. Neither of her parents can have a body part showing without a comment from her. "Naked! Naked!" She's always on the alert. Now, as you can see, she's learned to get herself naked. This could be the beginnings of all kinds of fun :) I had to stifle loud laughter when I found her this way. She apparently got halfway but couldn't figure out the rest and got worn out.

Painting

Our happy little artist at work. What better than tomato onion soup and grilled cheese on a cozy snowy day? Painting on your high chair tray with the leftovers of course! My favorite is the sound effects as the creative juices flowed forth. It's the simple joys. I love this little girl.

Taste of Spring

Today was so wonderfully warm and sunny. Natalie and I couldn't resist going outside to play. The sun actually felt warm on my face! You could smell the earth and imagine spring coming. Natalie loved playing in the puddle with her stick and splashing around in her boots. She didn't want to come inside for lunch.

Let it Snow?

Natalie enjoys the recent weather.

Her dad, on the other hand, is glad there's now a snowblower in the barn.
