The List Game
Here's my answers, Ame...Esther?
Aprons - Y/N? Yes, call me June Cleaver, but my mommy has made me some great old-style ones, I have a cute one from Jessica with teacups and some really special ones that were Peter's grammy's
Baking - I do enjoy it, and I've been trying to get better at it since I've been home, but I think Peter is actually better at it than I am.
Clothesline - Y/N? After 7 years of laundromat, I absolutely love my clothesline which conveniently goes from my backporch to barn. Something romantic about hanging wash on a beautiful breezy day. And I've been known to get out there during a February thaw cuz I'm such a cheapskate. :)
Donuts - Ever made them? Never made them. Have eaten my share. Mom made them a few times growing up. I've never had a KrispyKreme, but Peter tells me they're the best.
One homemaking thing you do everyday? Dishes, make the bed, quick clean up in bathroom most days, general walk around and put things away, or as Peter puts it "get everything back to it's default position." :)
Freezer - Do you have a separate deep freezer? Yes, best thing ever for this frugal girl who glories in chicken sales and cutting up her huge blocks of cheese from Sam's Club.
Garbage Disposal - Y/N? Yes, love it, but it is scary and deserves respect.
Handbook - Y/N? What's that?
Ironing - Love it or hate it? kinda neutral on it. Get some satisfaction out of ironing wrinkled linens, and it's a mindless job so my brain can do other things while I do it. Was one of my household jobs growing up. Then we actually had an ironing basket, and everything was ironed before it was hung. Now, we do our ironing "to order," and Peter actually usually does his own. What a guy! But probably because he was in ROTC and wants it done properly :)
Junk Drawer - Yes, but recently hoed it out, so it's actually a pretty neat junk drawer. I know, rather pathetic. My gadget drawers on the other hand are a total mess, and stuff just gets tossed in any which way.
Kitchen - Design and decorating? - our house is a work in progess. I do enjoy rearranging things and getting out special things for each season/holiday, alternating tablecloths and vases and such. Beauty around me is very important. Especially now that I'm here all the time.
Love - What is your favorite part of homemaking? Just being home. Making it a haven for my family and a comfortable place for our guests. Also the challenge of making our budget stretch to the max! Waste not, want not!
Mop - Y/N? Yup
Nylons - extremely rare, bare legs or trouser socks for this girl
Oven - Do you use the window or open it to check? No window, gotta open it
Pizza - What do you put on yours? Whatever we have! Pepperoni is hubby's fave
Quiet - What do you do during the day when you get a quiet moment? Bible, prayer, email, scrapbook, and yes cleaning :(
Recipe card box - Y/N? Yes, my sweet sister made it for me and filled it with yummy recipes years ago.
Style of house - Guess it would be called colonial, not sure. Two stories, white, separate barn, bout a 100 years old.
Tablecloths and napkins - Y/N? Mostly just placemats and napkins but on special occasions a tablecloth
Under the kitchen sink - cleaning products, extra handsoap and dish detergent, jewelry cleaner and polishes. Lately weeding out the toxic things as I have a little explorer
Vacuum - How many times a week? One big one, and now that it's winter and Nat likes to eat things off the entryway carpet, usually some extra small quick vacs every few days :)
Wash - How many loads do you do a week? Probably 4--having a baby who's crawling definitely has increased it.
X's - Do you keep a list of things to do and cross them off? I am most assuredly a list lover, BUT have been loosening up a bit on that since baby and trying not to attach it to my self esteem :)
Yard - Who does what? We do. Peter mows the lawn. I do the gardening. Slowly building up my perennials and want to do some veggies this year.
ZZZ's - What is your last homemaking task for the day? Pretty much the same as you, Ame..."Pick up all of the rooms. Make sure that everything is in its place before I start the day all over again tomorrow"
