Thank you, Lord...
I'm feeling very thankful for my family at the moment. Natalie and I were headed to do errands this morning, getting onto the interstate when we were rear-ended. A very slow-speed accident, and we were all ok. My poor little girl was pretty scared and tearful right away, shocked by the noise and the impact. I rushed back to her, my mommy instinct in full swing. But she was quickly soothed and then in awe of the cars zooming by. The young college student who hit us was actually more shook up than I was, checking right away to see that Natalie was alright. The Saturn's bumper got scratched up, and we discovered later that the muffler will need to be replaced. But a car is just a car.
Peter took the rest of his day to take the lead on phone calls to the insurance companies and body shop. So nice to have a man around to take charge. We both got checked out at the doctor's just to be on the safe side.
It wasn't until we were home awhile that my mind really processed how much worse it could have been. We could have been pushed into traffic and hit by other cars, etc. I thought too about whether God had wanted us to avoid some unknown danger ahead. We may never know this side of heaven. At any rate, the errands became quickly unimportant, and it was good just to be home together. We treated ourselves to Chinese take-out tonight and visited with Grammy and Grampy Cook.
So, after you read this, go hug your honeys and your kiddos tight. I know I'm snuggling mine close tonight.
