What a Dad!
My husband is full of surprises...
After a grueling week at work and just getting over a head cold, I expected and would have been fine with him playing XBOX all weekend.
But yesterday after sleeping in a little, he starts coming downstairs with boxes from the baby's room to go to our barn, then announced that he would be going to buy paint. As I write this our baby's room is all painted and the crib and changing table are set up.
And if that wasn't enough, he surprised me with a fancy dinner out last evening (our time alone is now short :)). What a guy!
He's now getting some much-deserved couch time watching the Steelers/Broncos game. Go Steelers!!
Anyway, I'm a very lucky girl and this baby has a great Daddy.
ps. Esther, don't have a heart attack that I've now blogged twice in one week :) tee hee

Nesting Mode
Hello all :)
Well here I am at 29 weeks and counting. The other night I finally broke down and stripped the closet of all clothes that no longer fit my expanding form, replacing them with my "preggo" attire. I'm blessed with some friends who passed on some fashionable hand-me-downs, so I can't complain. Maternity clothes have definitely come a long way.
The other night I gave Peter a laugh though...silly me thought that my two piece swimsuit from the summer would still fit this new body (I can hear all your laughs even now :) ). I need it for this couples' retreat we're attending next weekend cuz the place has a pool.
In my mind I remembered the tank top as stretchy enough to pull it off, but when I slipped it over my head it weren't goin past my protruding belly button! I pranced into the next room with belly hanging out, and hubby was less than sympathetic, roaring with laughter :(
A small price to pay for the wonderful life inside me (aww....)
And God cares about the little things like my vanity because a few days later he led me to a great little suit at a local second hand maternity/baby store. yay! I can swim in style after all.
So back to the title of this entry, my brain is in full nesting mode these days. I lay in bed chuckling to myself the other night with baby when I realized the hours my thoughts have been racing over what kind of shelving should go in the baby closet to maximize the space...like that's going to be very important to the little one :)
Does he know what a compulsive freak his mummy is? Poor little guy :)
Soon we'll be painting and moving in all the great furniture we got from Peter's sister now that she's done having babies.
Well, we're off to visit future Grampy and Grammy Cook.
Love to all of you who read! XOXO

Twenty-Six Weeks

Hello all, time for mommy to make another entry :)Again, I'm very lax in my blogging but I've been busy growing as you can see :)
Peter took this picture of me last week, actually had our 27 week visit yesterday, which means we're actually almost 7 months--yikes!! This pregnancy has gone so fast. I have loved being pregnant and feel like if all of them could be this smooth I'd do it several more times...now it's just the actual parenting part we have to figure out :)
We went out tonight and started our baby registry. Peter had fun "zapping" stuff and was a bit bug-eyed by the plethora of baby stuff available. It's really beginning to feel real...
Baby is moving a lot and very fun to feel. Every night we have what we call the "baby show" and listen to his/her heartbeat with a home monitor Peter bought. These are really special bonding times...but no one is supposed to know about Daddy's soft side :) oh well, the secret's out...tee hee hee
ok, it's mommy's bedtime, must sign off. My body pillow is calling :)
love to all our family and friends who read this XOXO

Baby Stuff
Today we got a delivery from my sister in Canada. My parents dropped off a crib, a changing table, a swing and assorted other baby items. Now the front room, the kitchen and the dining room all contain baby stuff. Amazing that such a small creature requires so much stuff, really.
As I said on the other blog, for some reason, having this stuff in the house brings the reality of the impending kid home in a way that my wife's growing abdomen has not. Soon, we start painting and preparing the room that will become the nursery.
The next major step is the birthing classes, early next month. Included in that is a breastfeeding class I'm told I have to attend. I protested that, since men are basically useless when it comes to feeding a baby. As much as we'd like to help, there's not a lot we can do.
So expect to hear about those classes after they happen.
