Media Totally Okay with Big Obama Party

Remember all of those stories in 2004 in which the media and the Democrats encouraged President George W. Bush to tone down his party because we were at war, and tsk-tsking about the fact that donations bought access?
WASHINGTON (AP) - Unemployment is on the rise. The stock market is in the tank. Is this any time for a party?Get that? When Republicans are being inaugurated in tough times, they have to be sensitive so their parties don't offend the sensibilities of the American people. Barack Obama's inauguration, though, is a needed balm for our shattered national psyche. It's a chance to heal and come together. For the sake of the masses of people expected for President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration, let's hope so. While Obama must be sensitive to the nation's time of war and recession, there's still reason to expect a rollicking time.
"We're mindful of the fact that people in this country are hurting, that they're going through hard times," said Linda Douglass, spokeswoman for the Presidential Inaugural Committee. "On the other hand, we see this not just as a celebration of an election, but as a time for people to come together and celebrate their common values and shared aspirations and goals."
As for the cost, I wonder why Obama doesn't save a few bucks and do some recycling.

I've got to credit the artist formally known as Prince aka Prince on this one. The press IS going to party like it's 1999: before Gore missed his tap in, before 9/11 when it became impossible to hide jihad from the American people, before the invasion of Iraq, before the dunce Bush got re-elected, before newspapers were on the verge of mass bankruptcies, before the MSM lost the trust of the people.
Let them have their three days of real live unicorns and problems that can be solved with pixie dust. Because the MSM is going to, some day not too far off, have some splainin to do to the American people.

Well, for those of us in the Metro area, unfortunately, there a few things that go along with the parties -- they passed "emergency" legislation so the bars downtown can stay open all night -- cool idea, huh? But don't worry, it's just for those four days. And a headline in the paper today, "Where To Park 10,000 Charter Buses?"
So EVERY day there's something else -- even how much are you charging people coming to town? The hotels are sold out and so your "friends and relatives" are wantin' to stay at your place. How much to charge -- big discussions on that.
Seems like it's all a big, fat way to try to make money off people -- how shocking, right?
Then you can talk about all the extra cops that all coming to town, too. Not enough that D.C. has more law enforcement agencies that anybody else anywhere, they already know it's not enough. And no days off for anybody either. Who's paying all that overtime?
So, congrats to the new president, but not a week I'm looking forward to.
