The Postmortems Continue
Rich Lowry has a post up about John McCain's election loss. It's got some good information from various campaign sources regarding the tension between Palin and some of the aides who were assigned to work with her.
While it is a good read, I think Lowry figured out why McCain lost even before the election was held.
As for Palin, I think she'll be fine, despite how silly her fellow Republicans are being at the moment. I think she should spend the next few years just being as effective a governor as she can be. I don't know what her future will be - my gut worries that her affiliation with the McCain campaign may have tarnished her brand, but it's a long time until the next presidential election. So who knows?
Still, right now the GOP needs to find a message and some good candidates for 2010 and stop worrying about the next presidential election.

You're kidding me right? Her mouth tarnished her brand. Joe 6-pack? Doncha know that was about a stoopid thing to say...
Rarely can I recall a candidate who so severely stretched every single bit of information, from:
"I sold the state jet on E-bay"
- well, not really, she tried, but ultimately sold it for a million and a half less than it was worth, off of ebay
to
"I fought the bridge to no where"
- but still built the millions of dollars of road to it and only stopped the bridge cuz it was getting to be a national scene,
to one of the stupidest things I've ever heard a person say, I'm qualified in foreign relations cuz alaska is near russia and we run, "missions" over there all the time.
Oh, and Katie wasn't holding her over a barrel, she burned herself there with her "mad" verbal skills.
The president should be smarter than the average person, not the average person.
If you're going to dismiss another person's intelligence based on their use of the English language, it would help not to use non-words like "cuz" and capitalize proper pronouns such as "Alaska" and "Russia." Just some friendly advice. -S

Am disappointed that McCain didn't win, but I do think you're right about 2010. A lot will happen between now and that election cycle and if we sit around whining now, it will sneak up too soon.
And I never was good at understanding what "message" either party honestly was about. Am I just uninformed or what? What truly is supposed to be the Republican stand? That's something that needs to be more clear -- that's just me talking.
