Dead Air
This blog may be quiet for the next couple of days, unless something major happens. I've got some vacation time built up, so I turned a Tuesday holiday into a four-day weekend (oh, the joys of a government-ish job) to do some work around the house.
And by "some work" I mean tearing out plaster and lathe walls, re-insulating (Post work note: Did I say "re" insulate? I should say simply "insulate." There was nothing in those walls but air.), and re-wiring a room. Or starting the job, anyway. Although I'd been led to believe the election of Barack Obama would solve all my problems, it seems I still need to do this work. Pity. Maybe his (or should I say "His?") miracles won't take effect until January.
Have I mentioned how much I love owning a house?
Update - Well that was unpleasant. I don't think I'm ever getting this dust out of my lungs. And I even wore a mask.

And may I say thank you, you and a bazillion other Gov. people, who will make my commute Mon. even easier. I have a really short commute, but on Gov. off days you can really see a difference.
And hey, if you have all the abilities to do those kinds of repairs and handiwork, you've got a job any time!!
Have fun.

Yeah, what a rip-off. I thought The One's triumph would mean all my dishes done, clothes washed, babies diapered, meals cooked... Who'd have thought life would continue on much as before?

Owning a home has been called the American Dream, my personal thinking lies along the lines of perpetual nightmare.
