Pessimism Meter? Redlined

The media is jumping all over this, while ignoring the political sins of Barack Obama. As much as I'd like to be optimistic about this election, my gut tells me it's 'game over, man.'
Maybe something will change in the next couple of weeks, but at the moment I can't think of anything that will change the media's eagerness to drag Obama over the finish line.

Recount? No matter who wins? Wow, won't that be fun.

It was quite illuminating to see the CNN story on this. The headline and the front page snippet both mentioned the "abuse of power" and neither the "had a right to fire."
So the MSM is rigging the election for Obama. Is this any different, though, than the Hearst era around the turn of the 1900s? (That's a genuine question; I don't know the answer.)
