Obama's New Ad
After spending the weeks since the Democrat convention getting pummeled by the McCain campaign, Barack Obama and his advisers are (once again) promising to take off the gloves and fight.
So what's their bold, aggressive ad strategy? Allah's description - "Old man doesn't use email." Using pictures of 1980s technology and a photo of John McCain wearing some truly atrocious glasses, they try to paint him as out of touch for not being able to use a computer, among other things.
There's only one problem with that line of attack. And it's kind of a big one.
McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.Good job, guys. You just mocked the injuries of a combat veteran. All Obama's staff had to do was read the best-selling book their opponent wrote to avoid this embarrassment.
Even if McCain were not wounded, it's still a silly line of attack. They're making fun of a guy who knew how to use this:

For not being able to use this:

Maybe it's just me, but one of those looks more complicated than the other.
Update - And now they're questioning McCain's patriotism. Stay classy, Obama.

My thoughts on seeing that ad -- wouldn't that be a "preaching to the choir" type of thing? I mean, that's more of an inside joke to each other -- yeah, pretty lame ad. Totally like Joe telling the guy in the wheelchair to stand up.

Barack hasn't been handling this well at all. It's all well and good when everyone is on your side, but it's more telling how you react under pressure.
From the past couple weeks, he hasn't been faring well at all.
I'm picturing Senator Clinton lounging in a chair, drinking chardonnay and cackling loudly, thinking of her chances in the next election.
