Tonight's Speeches

I watched Bill Clinton's speech this evening. He's a very good actor. Lots of lip-biting and emotive nodding. And lies. Lots and lots of lies.

John Kerry's speech was angry - I think it will go over as well as Pat Buchanan's speech from the 1992 GOP convention. I forgot how tool-ish he was. According to Kerry, Obama will deal with Hezbollah, Hamas and North Korea by closing Guantanamo Bay.

I didn't bother with Joe Biden's speech. The first disc of Dexter, season 2 just showed up via Netflix. A man's got to have his priorities.

Excellent choice. :-)

Slublog: I have a little different take on Bubba's speech last night than I've heard from others.

At one point in his speech he seemed to be saying "You will have universal health care...and world cooperation...and a fabulous economy...and 'free bubble-up and rainbow stew' with Barack Obama as President."

It was so over the top that it reminded me of Hillary's "the heavens will open up...a choir will sing...and all will be right with the world" speech. I think Bill might have been trying to make a subtle point. You know, 'dissing Obama while pretending to praise him.

I don't know...but that's what I was thinking.

I'm sorry, but I cannot look at him for any length of time with his, oh, so sincere talk -- all I can think of is him saying "I did not have sex with that woman." He was very, very sincere while he was lying then, too.
