The Big Speech
It was terrible.
Not sure what else I can say about it, really. The speech was angry, partisan and dishonest. It was more like a typical State of the Union speech than one of someone who just won the nomination of his party - policy proposals with no details combined with strident attacks on John McCain.
Tonight, Obama abandoned his hope and change message for one that said 'America sucks, and only I can make it better.' I don't think that's going to play well among the voters he has yet to convince.

Glad I didn't bother watching.

I even made the kids watch - they should see demagoguery a few times before they have to vote pro or con. Agree it was uninspiring in extremis, but didn't understand the near psychotic approval registered by everyone on CNN, everyone they interviewed, and, apparently, everyone in America. Oh, I forgot, he's a pseudo Marxist.
Loved the Frary Goes to Washington jpeg. Thanks!

Well, I thought it was positively Lincolnesque.
(Wait, Lincoln was that other leftist empty suit who had never really accomplished anything and still got his party's nomination basically because of identity politics and a non-specific, banal political agenda, right? Or am I confusing him with some other guy?)

A SOTU speech tends to be more upbeat. That was a long-winded stump speech.
The 'Rats have decided this is a base-only election.
