McCain: New Tone? What New Tone?

As irritated as I was (am) with the idea of John McCain as the GOP nominee, I have to admit that his refusal to pretend at a "new tone" in politics is somewhat satisfying. His campaign will not let Barack Obama get away with his passive-aggressive campaign style.

After spending nearly eight years watching the Bush administration think being nice to the Democrats matters, it's good to see someone push back.

How can the nickname "Maverick" and the indicated desire to pick a pro-choicer NOT be considered a "New Tone" in Washington, or anywhere else? Any so- called "Republican" who wants to do away with the GOP(at least as anything still containing anything faintly resembling conservatism)and combine it, for all intents and purposes with his favorite party, Democratic, is looking for a "new tone" whether he calls it that or not.
