George Lucas: Destroyer of Childhood Memories

Anwyn's got the spine-chilling quote of the day.

Lucas is a classic example of a guy who couldn't leave well enough alone. He could have simply allowed the original Star Wars movies to stand on their own, but he first had to "improve" them and then tried to tell the story before the story and failed. At times, it almost seemed as though he wanted to irritate those who loved his original trilogies and now, many of us have less-than-positive feelings about the man. Instead of walking away on top of his game, he kept going and ruined his legacy.

Hmmmm...maybe Brett Favre should have seen that as a cautionary tale.

Lucas has jumped the shark a long time ago. I'll check out the Clone Wars but I'm not sure I'm going to like it. The battles look cool but Anakin with a Padawan???? I miss the original trilogy. Only to keep my VCR player. Lucas even screwed up the DVD's. They look awful with the laser coloring and lightsaber's AFU.

Well in fairness, Brett retired. Then wanted to come back. Then stayed retired. Then came back again.

Maybe it does mirror George...directed Episode IV, coasted on that and retired...then came back to helm Episodes I,II,III.
