A Quiet Weekend
In lieu of blogging updates, please accept this photoshop depicting how the media tends to portray Barack Obama:

My wife and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary Friday, so I figured it was a good idea to spend more time with her than on the computer. Today has been a blur of crying kids, screaming kids and holding kids so they don't cry or scream. In between the screaming and the crying, I did get the chance to go out and purchase a wine-making kit. It's something I've wanted to do for awhile, so I figured why not now?
All that stands in the way of me and homemade wine is, er, a lot of work involving tannins, grape concentrate, yeast, sulfides and something called a hydrometer.
Dang. It was my understanding there would be no math.

something called a hydrometer.
Sounds a lot more complex then it is(on the off chance you aren't just goofing :P), it's just an enclosed glass tube filled with metal or some other weight at an end and measuring lines lines on the other. Drop it into your wine, tells you how much of the sugar in the wine (or beer) has converted to alcohol.
We actually got to make wine in our college bio class. Tasted like the cheap, overly sweet wine they use at mass. Obviously it was for demonstration purposes. I really need to learn more about wine, wine types and winemaking.
