Huck ♥'s Porkers

hyukhyuk.jpg
What do you mean by "your money?" Does not compute.

Crossin' that Bridge to Nowhere.

Huck PAC, created by former Arkansas Governor and Republican Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, has officially endorsed Congressman Don Young in his re-election bid for Alaska's seat in the House of Representatives.
The endorsement was unpopular enough to force Huckabee to respond on his website. Looks like Young got this endorsement based on his "pro-family" votes and pure cronyism. Awesome.

Young is a terrible choice, and not just because he was the sponsor of the "bridge to nowhere." He's also been tied to the disgraced Jack Abramoff, inserted an earmark that would have benefited a campaign donor, and may be the focus of a criminal investigation for illegally editing a bill after a vote. But hey...he supported Huckabee's presidential bid and is "pro-family" so he's good to go.

Judging from his weak-tea defense of Young, Huckabee doesn't understand how badly he's harmed his brand with this one. This endorsement also displays a rather profound ignorance of why Congressional Republicans are so unpopular. Hint: it's not a lack of social conservatism, it's an almost complete absence of fiscal discipline.

Maybe asking a porker like Huck to understand that is unfair, though.

I am so glad evangelicals in numerous states decided to put identity politics above conservative principles during the primary, making this doofus a top-tier candidate and political force in the GOP. Nice work, guys.
