Huckabee Loses It

By "it," I mean the chance to be on the ticket. Radioactive
During a speech before the National Rifle Association convention Friday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky, former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee — who has endorsed presumptive GOP nominee John McCain — joked that an unexpected offstage noise was Democrat Barack Obama looking to avoid a gunman. To be fair to Huckabee, he probably meant to say that Obama saw a gun and was scared by the unfamiliarity. But that's not what he said, and his 'joke' will likely resonate for a few days and ultimately end his chances of becoming John McCain's running mate. Which, of course, is fine with me.“That was Barack Obama, he just tripped off a chair, he’s getting ready to speak,” said the former Arkansas governor, to audience laughter. “Somebody aimed a gun at him and he dove for the floor.”
I'm sure Wayne LaPierre and the board of the NRA are not at all pleased by the fact that Huckabee chose to utter this stupid soundbite in front of their logo, at their conference. Huckabee has since apologized, but his 30 seconds of attempted humor will reflect badly on the NRA and Republicans for a few weeks.
Thanks a lot, Huck. It's not as though Republicans had any issues to deal with or anything.
