Despite the Weather, I Love This State

Where else would this make the news?

OLD TOWN - Authorities in Old Town say a raccoon that chased a woman and a police officer has tested positive for rabies.

The raccoon jumped on the car of a woman who had just returned from work. Old Town Police Sgt. Mike Hashey says the woman remained in the car and called police. The raccoon then proceeded to chase both the woman and the officer before the officer shot it.

Rabies is, of course, serious stuff and I don't like that it's so close to me. Still, I've got some level of immunity - I had to get the rabies shot series a few years ago. Won't change my reaction to wildlife, though. Animals are to be feared.

I had to get rabies shots when I was 4. Bat lieing on the front step, and I went up and touched it, and it jumped up and bit me! BIG needles, right in the belly.

Animals are to be feared.

Or eaten.

In both cases, depends on the animal.

Cujo was bitten by a rabid Maine racoon. Sweet dreams!

In any case, animals are to be shot.
