Cuba's "New" Leader
I wonder if the reporter who wrote this was able to do so with a straight face.
HAVANA, Cuba (CNN) -- Fidel Castro's nearly five decades of rule ended Sunday when Cuba's National Assembly chose his younger brother Raul to be the country's new president.I expect what constitutes an "important decision" will be defined considerably downward in the next few years. The lawmakers' selection, which had been widely expected, came five days after Fidel Castro, 81, announced his resignation in a letter published in the state-run newspaper Granma.
In his address to the National Assembly, the 76-year-old Raul Castro proposed that "we consult Fidel" on important decisions.

Do you think it will be defined downward due to Fidel's downward progression into a six-foot hole, or are you thinking they will gradually phase out Fidel until he's just a whisper and then let him fade away?

Its CNN. Not only was it written with a straight face, there was probably a tear in his (or her) eye over "El Presidente" stepping down.

Yeah, the Assembly "chose" Raul. I'm going to go ahead and guess the vote was unanimous.

Your thoughts on Nader?
I don't think he'll be much of a factor, honestly. Many Democrats hate the guy for 2000 and aren't going to vote for him anytime soon.
