The New Frontrunner?

Mitt Romney wins in Michigan. That's two wins, two second places. Bryan at Hot Air says that makes him the front-runner. This win will certainly put him ahead in the delegate count, and blunts the momentum of John McCain and Mike Huckabee.

Even though Hugh Hewitt has, um, gone a little overboard in his support for Romney, his take on the Romney win seems right - if McCain can't win in an open primary state with an uncontested Democratic race, then where can he win?

Also gratifying is Huckabee's low, low showing thus far. He tried class warfare, and it didn't work out. Michigan pastors didn't get out the vote for him, and he's starting to lose the evangelical vote. Time for more shameless pandering, I guess. Too bad, really. He really is a classy guy.

On the Democratic side, 67% of Democratic voters prefer "uncommitted" to Hillary Clinton. Ouch.

Also, if McCain and Huckabee do badly from this point on, it only serves to highlight the growing irrelevance of Iowa and New Hampshire.

McCain's campaign is angry at Romney for stepping on his concession speech. Perhaps it's a misunderstanding, perhaps not. I remember McCain's petulant South Carolina "concession" speech in 2000, so I can't really dredge up much sympathy for him. Also, he gave his concession speech from South Carolina. He booked it as fast as he could from Michigan once it was clear he would lose. Whatever happened to giving the concession speech in the state that you actually lost?

"He's not the happiest boy today," Huckabee said, smiling for a picture with the boy and his brother and sister. "I think he must be a Romney voter. Look at him. He's so sad."

Never, ever insult a momma's kid. We'll come after you.

Speaking of mommy, I hope your "baby mommy" is doing well.
