Huckabee: My Opponent Made Me Lose!
I'm not sure Mike Huckabee understands the whole "democracy" and "election" thing.
“We obviously wanted and we honestly thought we would win. The fact of Fred Thompson’s being in the race took away some votes that we most likely had. I believe every analyst has looked at it that way, Huckabee said. “The snow pretty much – not only froze the streets of the Greenville-Spartanburg area, but the votes came to a stop when it started snowing. That was an area where we had really looked forward to get a heavy and significant vote margin.Well, waah, dude. The whole point of elections is that you try to earn the votes of those who might be inclined to support someone else. If a voter chooses the other candidate, don't whine and blame who they chose.
Losing South Carolina is a blow to Huckabee, and it served to show his fundamental weakness as a candidate. Huckabee was only able to win 12% of non-evangelical voters in an extremely conservative state. There are quite a few non-evangelicals in the country, so that figure doesn't bode well for his chances in a primary election.
I have to agree with Anywn. If the only thing Fred Thompson accomplishes in his campaign is to take out Huckabee, it was all worth it.
