Dobson Gloats

Geez.

Sixty percent of the voters in the Iowa caucuses were self-identified Evangelicals, and 45 percent of them supported Mike Huckabee. The former governor may not become the eventual Republican nominee, and I have not endorsed him, but what happened there last night was evidence of an energized and highly motivated conservative community.
It's obvious that Dobson has no idea how badly Huckabee's rise and win has harmed the standing of evangelical voters in the party. First they threaten to stay home, then support a GOP candidate who is basically John Edwards with a Bible.

Read the comments in this thread to get a taste of how irritated other members of the GOP coalition are becoming with evangelical voters. Many years of resentment are starting to come to fruition. For the record, I thought Vodkapundit's essay was a bit harsh, but the rabbit line made me laugh. And honestly, I'm getting a bit disturbed at the insults aimed at Christianity, since not all of us support Huckabee.

Dobson's triumphalism is not going to ease the growing resentment against a voting block many Republicans see as leading the party in the wrong direction. (h/t: Laura)
