Tired of the Threats
Allah points to an essay by author Lee Harris, who says if voters do not respect Mike Huckabee's fundamentalism, evangelicals will bolt the GOP.
I'm not sure what he means by "respecting" his fundamentalism. Although I have seen some anti-Christian sentiment among those who oppose Huckabee's campaign, the majority of criticism has focused on his record, which is largely at odds with traditional conservatism. Allahpundit says most Republicans are "in no mood" for such essays, given the constant threats emanating from evangelical voters.
Anwyn, for one, seems fed up with the idea that criticizing Huckabee equals attacking Christianity.

Guess I had too many links in my first post, so I'll repost the upshot (from my Wisconsin-specific answer to the question "Is conservatism out of gas?"):
At least in Wisconsin, conservatism as a political movement is not only out of gas, but on life support, and will remain so as long as the Republican Party (or its successor) takes social conservatives for granted. Further, even though it is not popular, as long as fiscal conservatism gets short shrift, any gains from gearing toward social conservatives will be at best temporary.

This is just pouting. Can you really see Dobson putting out a bulletin insert urging Christians to vote for Hillary over Rudy because the GOP didn't nominate Huckabee? The bark has no bite.

That kind of stuff falls firmly into the same category as, "What? You've got issues with the way Greenpeace runs their show? You must hate the environment!"
You can't scream about no religous test for office, and then turn right around and suggest that if you don't vote your faith....
Crazy.
