Veteran's Day
Like Anywn, I always have trouble knowing what to write on days like today. Anything I say seems inadequate to thank veterans for the sacrifices they've made.
On days like today, I think of the three veterans that I'm closest to, each of whom has fought in a different war. My dad is a veteran of the Cold War, USN 1970-1990 - retired as a Senior Chief. My grandfather Cook fought in World War II, and my grandfather Garcia fought in Korea.
If you have a moment, take time to thank those veterans who are currently fighting in Iraq. Xerox has a nice site that enables you do do that. If you're more inclined to give financially, the USO has been serving men and women in uniform for 66 years.
Thanks to all who serve, and have served.

About a year ago, I was watching Saving Private Ryan with my dad. During to opening scene in Normandy, I made some sort of comment on the horrors that those men must have seen there. My dad, without turning his head from the tv, just calmly said "My father was there."
Every time I see that scene, I remember, my grandfather was at D-Day. Wow.
