Enduring Cartoon Land

As has been her habit of late, my daughter screamed herself (and us) awake this morning. So downstairs we went and since I'm a very bad parent who needed time to make coffee and a few minutes of not-screaming time, the cartoons were turned on. The cartoon channel of choice was Kids CBC.

Some cartoons are relatively normal. "Arthur," is a perfectly nice little...whatever who has a normal life and learns lessons every day about being nice and such. Today Arthur learned that old people may be boring, but we shouldn't turn them into Soylent Green. Or something. The coffee hadn't finished brewing and the show was almost over.

After "Arthur" came "Curious George." The little monkey is cute, but if I were the Man in the Yellow Hat, I'd have capped him by now, or sold him to an organ grinder. Still, the theme song is pretty catchy.

A few more sips of coffee and...what the holy bleeding heck is this?

My eyes! My eyes!

Seriously, what on earth are those things? They're hideous. I've never had an acid trip, but I'm pretty sure I now know what a bad one feels like. And the smiling...oh, the smiling...

A little research shows that the Doodlebops originated in Canada. The CBC is great, and I like Canada, but can't we get those guys declared a weapon of mass destruction or something?

Still less annoying than Matt Lauer, though. They've got that going for them.

It's just as well that Jerry Falwell has gone to his reward.
