Real-Life Hobbit to Direct "The Hobbit?"

The relationship between Peter Jackson and New Line may improve enough for the director to direct the 'introduction' to the Lord of the Rings.

One would think, with billions of dollars at stake, these two would play well with one another.

I'm not sure this is good news. For one thing, The Hobbit is intentionally a kid's story, and the plot consequently just doesn't have that much depth to it. My fear is that Jackson will invent stuff to make it "better" like he trashed LOTR. The other problem is that the Battle of the Five Armies will be about 20 times longer on the screen than it is in the book. So I say now, no thanks, but I expect I would go see it when it eventually hits the theater.
