Picture, Then Tackle
LEWISTON, Maine (AP) — A newspaper photographer captured dramatic images of a fugitive jumping from a third-floor balcony — then captured the fugitive.Visit the link for the pictures Dillingham took before and after tackling the suspect. What a great story.Sun Journal photographer Russ Dillingham was praised by police for tackling Norman Thompson and holding him down until officers arrived. Afterward Dillingham grabbed his camera and took more photos of Thompson being handcuffed.
"I always kind of wondered what I’d do in a situation like that," said Dillingham, a 25-year veteran of news photography. "But you don’t even think about it. You just react."
