Environmentalism for Thee...

My latest Republican Journal column is on the web.

A group in Massachusetts has been trying to bring low-cost, environmentally renewable energy to the state for years through a windmill project known as Cape Wind. Cape Wind, a series of windmills off the coast of Nantucket Sound, would provide enough energy for Cape Cod and the Islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Sounds good, right?

The windmills off the coast have yet to be erected, because a powerful senator stands in the way. Senator Ted Kennedy has been the most vocal opponent of the project, blocking numerous attempts to start the project. What is his reason for opposing environmentally friendly, low-cost energy?

To quote the senator: “But don't you realize — that's where I sail!”

That’s right. Ted Kennedy doesn’t want to build environmentally friendly windmills off the coast of Nantucket because it would interrupt his ability to enjoy his luxury yacht. The needs of the environment take second place to the needs of one man and his cronies in the Senate.

All because I watched "Charlotte's Web..."
