"Kiss Up or Lose"

My latest Republican Journal column is up. Let's just say I'm getting really sick of watching the major political parties protect New Hampshire and Iowa, even going so far as to threaten disenfranchisement if voters in other states have the sheer audacity to see presidential candidates before the election is decided.

How is it disenfranchisement if you're not allowed to vote in a political party's primary?
We independents do it all the time.
One way to cure all this hub-bub would be to have all of the primaries on one day, say in April, and then let the party's winners beat each other up for six months. Win-Win.

It's not.

What I'm talking about is the party threatening to throw out the delegates of any state that does not toe the line.

I've gotta say I'm with you on this. Living in IL means my say on presidential primary candidates is meaningless, especially given the state of the GOP in IL. No matter who IL says it wants for the Republican candidate, the state will go for the Democrat. It's a bit demoralizing.
