Ironically, the Nazis didn't set the Reichstag on fire after all--Communists later manufactured evidence that implicated tham, probably as revenge for the many Communists that were killed by teh Nazis using the fire as a pretext. The Nazis took advantage of the fire so well that everyone assumed they had planned it; instead, they were already planning their takeover and the fire came at an opportune moment. It just meant they didn't have to invent an incident, it was given to them.
