Amnesty Will Pass the Senate
According to press reports, Senate offices have been deluged with calls opposing this bill. They have seen polls showing overwhelming opposition to this bill. The pundits, blogs and talk show hosts on the right have all spoken up against this bill.
And yet they're still going to go ahead and vote for the darn thing.
This is no longer just about this particular bill, but with the fact that so many Republican incumbents are willing to go against the expressed wishes of their constituents in voting for this bill. They were elected to represent, but are doing the opposite.
It's time to get rid of them.
In 2008, I plan to vote for one Republican - whoever is running for president. I'm voting either write-in or D on the rest of the ticket. The Republicans are no longer worthy of support. There's a lot of cynicism attached to these sorts of pledges - a lot of people believe that no matter what we do, the same losers will end up in power.
This year, I'm not so sure that's true. Sure, not everyone who pledges not to vote will uphold that pledge, but I'm sure in some states, enough people will to make a difference in the final tally. We've had some close elections of late, and if a few thousand or a few hundred thousand voters either stay home or vote for a third-party or Democratic candidate, the Republican incumbent loses.
Add in the fact that the GOP will have a lot less money on hand next year due to voter anger and you've got a bad year coming up for Republicans.
Pity.

Just one q: why vote GOP for Prez?

Because I wouldn't want any of the current Democrats to be president. In looking at the full spectrum of candidates, there are three or four I can support. All of them are on the "R" side.
