EagleCam

Ever wondered what eagles do with their time?

Wonder no more. This pair is taking care of a new eaglet.

HANCOCK COUNTY — An eagle chick has hatched in a nest in coastal Hancock County, despite indications earlier this week that the nest had failed.

Scientists at the BioDiversity Research Institute in Gorham confirmed Thursday morning that there is a chick in the nest located at an undisclosed site in Hancock County that is monitored with a webcam.

"This is so exciting," Wing Goodale, a research biologist at the institute and the eagle cam project director, said Thursday. "It’s absolutely wonderful."

Guy studies birds and his name is Wing. Seems appropriate.

Never knew watching a bird in a nest could be so compelling.

Back when I was in 1st and 2nd grade we lived on High St. in Brewer which overlooked the Penobscot. I remember seeing bald eagles over the river then, glad to know they're still around.
