Journalism in Four Easy Steps!

Allah finds a video of Helen Thomas decrying the new media. In the interview, she says "Everyone with a laptop thinks they're a journalist...I don't think the average person knows the rules of the game."

Cripes.

Trust me, it's not rocket science. I have a degree in journalism, so out of the depths of my edumacation, I give you journalism in four easy steps:

1. Go to an event.
2. Write down what people say and do.
3. Go back to the newsroom.
4. Describe what you saw and heard in story form.
That's it. I'm passing on my hard-earned knowledge to you for free.

The word from (Cold War era) Poland:

Don't think.
If you think, don't speak.
If you think and speak, don't write.
If you think and speak and write, don't sign.
If you think and speak and write and sign,
don't be surprised.

Would that it could be so simple.
