And it Begins...

The monster turns on its creator.

Code Pink members were crying outside Pelosi’s office. When asked why, Rae Abileah, 24, said she was crying out of “outrage that this is all we can get from the Democrats,” referring to the Iraq supplemental funding bill, scheduled for a vote Friday.

“We’re just heartbroken that Nancy Pelosi has decided to keep funding George Bush’s war, and now the war belongs to the Democrats as well as the Republicans,” said Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin. “We thought we were going to get a change when they came into power.”

The Democrats nurtured the anti-war movement during the election, promising to end the war and get American troops home. Over time, many in the anti-war movement have taken this as encouragement to get more and more outrageous in their behavior, and the Democrats said nothing critical of those tactics.

Now those who are against the war are feeling spurned by the party that promised them so much. And they're striking out. I expect we'll see much more of this sort of thing in the future as the war continues.
