A Belated Remembrance

alamo.jpg

March 2 was Texas Independence Day, and I forgot. It's been a long time since seventh-grade Texas history, after all.

For the record, I'm half-Mexican and was born in Texas, so I always celebrate March 2 by kicking myself.

Evil Santa Anna! What's really odd about the alamo that I remember, is that it's smack dab in the middle of downtown San Antonio. In the middle of all these modern skyscrapers is this tiny little stone chapel.

What really surprised me about it was how tiny it is. All my young life (as a Texan) I heard about the Alamo. Of course I saw pictures. But when we went to San Antonio, I was like, "That's it?!?"
