Kissing Falwell's Ring

kissing the ring.jpg

John McCain, in 2000:

Neither party should be defined by pandering to the outer reaches of American politics and the agents of intolerance, whether they be Louis Farrakhan or Al Sharpton on the left, or Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell on the right.
John McCain, 2007:
Rev. Jerry Falwell and prominent right-wing Christian broadcasters will host a reception for Arizona Sen. John McCain at the National Religious Broadcasters convention in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 19.
So much for the Straight Talk Express.

I guess if Dobson has told all his cattle not to vote for him he needs to find a different wedge into the "religious conservative" voting bloc.

Benny Hin was booked.

That's unfortunate. McCain's poll numbers could use the help.

For a modest donation I'm sure he can get a hankie or two.

As a Christian, I am offended by politicians who do this AND by Christian leaders who enable it. Candidates should be themselves, make speeches about what they believe, and let the chips fall. Pandering to any group that you think needs to accept you (and doesn't already) is just one more thing that breeds cynicism among the electorate.
