We're Number One!!
In New England, anyway.
Because everyone else is worse than us.
AUGUSTA — The latest index of State Economic Momentum indicates that while Maine lags much of the country, it has the best economic momentum among the New England states.Being the best economy in New England is kind of like being the best mariachi band in Minnesota. Being number one really isn't all that hard."That’s good news," said Gov. John Baldacci. "In those areas that they focused, we have been doing well..."
...In this report, Maine was ranked 35th in the country with population growth of .5 percent, second to New Hampshire in New England. New Hampshire’s population grew at a rate of .8 percent, just below the national average of .9 percent. Nevada was fastest growing, at a rate of 3.5 percent. Rhode Island actually lost population, going down .3 percent.
Maine's economy is not doing well because our government is too big, our taxes are too high and our governor is more interested in growing the state government than in creating a business-friendly environment.

You're gonna run out of Somalis to settle in L/A eventually....
Then you're gonna have to make your own replacements.
