Ugh
Okay, this makes me want to break my new committment to the 11th Commandment.

Must stay positive...must stay positive...must...oh to heck with it.
What were you people thinking? Do you even care about the base anymore? I agree completely with Dean Barnett:
Is it just me, or is it becoming increasingly apparent that the Republicans and Democrats are determined to engage in a two year dumb-off? If it weren’t for the fact that there are some very determined lunatics out there trying to kill us, this would be funny.Exactly.
Helmet Head is back, and the Republican party is worse for it.

I think the 11th Commandment applied only between the primaries and the general election.
Or at least that's how I'm interpreting it.

Well y'all will get plenty of practice, 'cause it looks like McCain is serious about running for President on '08!

Lott is the stereotypical 'politician for life'. But maybe, as others have mentioned, he is a master of the ins and outs of Senate play. Maybe that's why he gets the job.
But I think all politicians are slimeballs, with a very few exceptions.

You've got to admire the GOP; doing their best to make the Dems look competent, responsive, and ethical.
