The Budget Show?

Maine's governor wants to show us how sausage is made.

Coming soon to a public-access channel near you: "The Budget Show," starring Gov. John Baldacci.

Go ahead and wince. But if Maine's re-elected chief executive has his way, the ins and outs of the state budget process will soon be a mere remote click away for any Mainer with a cable box.

"It's still in the early stages," Baldacci said Friday. "But it's about bringing the process and the facts and figures directly to the people."

Who knows? It could actually be interesting. Heck, I'd rather watch our governor explain the budget than the smarm-fest that is "Studio 60."

I love how our governor spends our money for our benefit. I'd rather have a rebate.
