Republicans woke up my daughter
and other random thoughts

I hate recorded political messages. Does anyone actually listen to them? When I realize the call isn't from a real human being, I hang up. This evening, I was trying to put my daughter down for a nap (never an easy process) when the phone rang and woke her up. Turns out it was one of those calls. My daughter yelled for awhile after that. I blame George Bush, naturally.

On a related note, babies are kind of stupid. When you or I are tired, we go to sleep. When a baby is tired, it screams and keeps itself awake. It's a really good thing they're cute, or there would really be no reason to keep them around.

When I take over and the revolution comes, people who insist on backing into parking spaces will be the first against the wall. After them will be pedestrians who cross against the light at a snail's pace.

David Sedaris is funny. Me Talk Pretty One Day is an enjoyable read.

One of these days, Ty, the guy from "Extreme Makeover" is going to annoy a contractor with his megaphone at the wrong moment, and is going to get a claw hammer to the forehead.

One thing I've noticed about many pedestrians is that, if they're starting from the other side of the road, they hurry along until they get about halfway across your lane, at which point they decide to slip into saunter mode. It's like they're hoping to win a big settlement.
