Hard Out There for a Mouse

"Look how they massacred my boy."

Imagine for a second if the Republicans did this. The Democrats have threatened ABC over the "Path to 9/11" miniseries. Allah has a copy of the letter at the link above, and asks:
My only question is this: was that letter typed, or did they use letters cut out from magazines?

You can’t play nice with them. I conceded they had a point about the scene with Sandy Berger. Ace conceded it. Dean conceded it. Geraghty conceded it. Others have conceded it. Facts is facts, and “composite” scenes play a little too loose for a film about 9/11. But the fightin’ nutroots wanted to see some fight, and Reid — who suddenly seems willing to crap in whatever color the fringe left tells him to — wanted to show he was a tough guy by throwing his weight around with ABC.

As James Taranto has said, it's too bad Clinton wasn't as concerned with fighting terrorism as he is with fighting threats to his reputation. Memo to the Clintonistas: if you don't have a legacy by now, you never will.

Is this really a game the Democrats want to start playing? Because it may come back to bite them in the future.

Fair enough. Everything is a precedent. There’s nothing anyone can do except remember and use it when Michael Moore’s new movie comes out and someone on the Republican side criticizes it as inaccurate and the droning about dissent-crushing begins.
Allah's mention of Michael Moore is apt. The Democrats famously embraced the filmmaker during the 2004 convention and many of the same Democrats who advocate censorship now were cheering the propaganda contained in "Fahrenheit 9/11." Entire websites and books have been written to point out the inaccuracies in Moore's movie, but Christopher Hitchens' takedown of the fabulist is best.

The hypocrisy, thuggishness and pure anger of the Democrats is on full display here, and I hope they enjoy their two minute hate because honestly, I'm tired of this nonsense and look forward to returning the favor next time Hollywood decides to come out with one of their anti-conservative polemics.

And the Democrats were nice enough to give us a template to follow.

How considerate of them.

How accurate is the movie
? Texas Rainmaker has the scoop, but I think only Sandy Berger's pants really know the truth.

UPDATE - An inconvenient truth.

UPDATE II - Well, this is enough to make you lose faith in a segment of the American people.

Antidote.

I think the dems are already being bitten by this ill-conceived action. Their better strategy would have been to let it come and go in the normal course of thing.

This is one of the scariest things I've read in awhile. Just hink how much of this kind of political censorship has already pervaded the press, that never made it out of the box.
I'm frankly stunned by ABC's strong stand, so stunned that I'm not sure I believe it. They seem to have already conceded to 'tone down' some of the Clinton scenes, which means the threats have worked to some degree.
