On the Bookshelf

A few weeks ago, Ramesh Ponnuru asked bloggers to write his publisher if they wanted a review copy of his new book. On a whim, I sent an email and to my surprise, received a copy this week.

I'll post a full review of the book when I'm finished, but for now, let me say that the title doesn't do the book justice, in a way. Ponnuru doesn't see life as a partisan issue - the "party" in question is made up of more than just Democrats.

Abortion and related issues are tricky subjects, but so far, Ponnuru is handling them quite well. I'm not just saying that because it was a free book. I'm just very glad to see someone making a pro-life argument without appeals to emotion or using pictures of dismembered children. Hard subject, good book.
