Weinberger
Just got back from a meeting and saw that former Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger died this morning here in Bangor. I had the opportunity to meet Weinberger once when he spoke at my college. He faced an angry, sometimes profane, crowd and handled the situation with calm answers and grace. After the talk, I saw him outside our student union and said hello. Weinberger stopped and was nice enough to take a few minutes to talk to an anonymous undergraduate. It was a nice gesture, and a cool memory.
UPDATE - Yup. It's one of the first things I thought of, as well.

What was he doing in Bangor, did he live there or come for the never-lacking night life?

He had a house in Southwest Harbor (I think). Somewhere on MDI, anyway.
