Celebrities Refuse USO Service
But remember, they "support the troops." Do I think celebrities should be required to do this? Of course not, but it does tend to make their 'oppose the war, support the troops' rhetoric somewhat hollow.

But the article lists anti-war celebrities who do go over there ... all it seems to be based on is the word of Wayne Newton. Huh?
Anyway, I don't blame them for not performing. I wouldn't. You are arguably aiding the war effort if you do so.

Oh, I don't know about that. I think there's a difference between supporting the war effort and just entertaining the troops.
Plus, what's wrong with Wayne Newton? Are you dissing Mr. Vegas?

By being kind to soldiers? By encouraging them that people back home care about them? God knows that right up there with making campaign speeches for W.

I wish we could get a list of the people that won't go.. because I'm thinking it's too dangerous for me to pay my good money for their movies, concerts, etc..... so I'll just skip going to their stuff.
I remember all those Bob Hope specials on TV when I was young and those stars that went every year with him were in some danger but they never stopped appearing for the troops. They really did appreciate the troops - and they put themselves in harms way for the people that put their lives on the line to protect us. Those folks were real stars and they were heroes too. This new crop of "stars" they will never be in the same league
