Ah, Technology
Yes, I actually went and purchased one of these today, so we could listen to the baby's heartbeat. The thing was only $20 at Burlington Coat Factory, which is amazing, considering what it does.
The kid was uncooperative at first, but eventually sat still long enough to let us hear his or her heartbeat. Amazing.
Of course, I've also been using the thing to listen to my own heartbeat, and to the sound of my stomach gurgling after a meal. Hey, the baby moved to a place we couldn't hear him or her and I had to use the new electronic gadget somehow.

That's why we didn't get one. If one day Alethea couldn't hear the heartbeat, she wouldn't say, "I guess it's in a bad position." No, becasue of what happened the first time she'd freak out. It wasn't worth the false alarms, we both agreed.

I can understand that.
What I realized last night was that you're okay until the kid kicks. Then it's some serious noise in your ears.

Hey Slublog.....you haven't heard "serious noise" yet. Just wait until you've got one or two of them home on a rainy day and you want to take a nap, read a book, listen to music, etc. and you will find out what noise really is. But when the "noise" has gone to visit grandma or school, you'll wish for it to hurry home.
It's truly an adventure and I hope you keep posting about it. Regards.
