Gang of 14 Led to Miers?

That's Mark Levin's argument in National Review Online.

But the ideological confrontation with the likes of Senator Charles Schumer and the Democrat left that many of us believe is essential, including Will and Kristol, was made much more difficult thanks to the likes of McCain and the unwillingness to change the rule before any Supreme Court vacancy arose. This president has been poorly served by his Republican "allies" in this regard. Bush is the first president who has had to deal with an assault of this kind on his constitutional authority. And unless and until the filibuster rule is changed, a liberal minority in the Senate will have the upper hand.
Read the whole thing.

It's little things like this, and McCain's endorsement of a pro-choice Republican candidate in California, that have already sunk his chances for the Republican nomination. The media will continue to push his candidacy and portray him as the front-runner, but the base just doesn't like him all that much.

"Bush is the first president who has had to deal with an assault of this kind on his constitutional authority."

Bullsh@t, just not true

"The liberal 'minority' will have the upper hand" -excuses, excuses from the party of personl responsibility....lol

Again, republicans thinking our forefathers were idiots.

If 'pro-choice' has sunk McCain, what will it do to Guili's chances?

"Bush is the first president who has had to deal with an assault of this kind on his constitutional authority."

Really? Name another president who has had his judicial nominees filibustered by the Senate.

If 'pro-choice' has sunk McCain, what will it do to Guili's chances?

If McCain wants to have a chance in heck of beating Guiliani, he has to get the support of religious conservatives. Showing his abortion bona fides would help, but that's obviously not going to happen. Guiliani may be pro-choice, but he's also a stronger leader. McCain is not, so people like me will be less forgiving of such things.

I wouldn't worry much about the medias agenda. I think that the last election proved that even if the media backs someone it does not mean a whole lot. They were reporting on Dean for a couple weeks like he was the best thing since sliced bread and he turned out to be a nut case. It probably helps that there are a lot more news sources out there now then the three big networks.
