Closing the Deal
Blogging will likely be light today, as we're closing on the house, then going to visit what will surely become our new "favorite" store - Home Depot - for some primer. We're planning to paint over some of the hideous wallpaper now in the house. At one point in Bangor's history, homeowners must have been required to have one room with blue flowered wallpaper. Ugh.
So if I don't update, respond to comments or anything like that, it's because I'll be signing paperwork, painting, or climbing around on the roof to fix something called 'chimney flashing.'
Yup, I've got a lot to learn.

Hope you have better luck painting over wallpaper than I have had. Water-based paint (which includes most interior paints) soaks into the paper and causes it to swell/blister/disintegrate, especially around the seams. Removing the old wallpaper first is a nasty job, but it will be 10 times more difficult when there's a fresh coat of paint on top (and when wifey is ragging on you for botching the job).

I second Old Coot; you should never paint over wallpaper. Plus, after you have to strip a room of wallpaper, you'll vow to never use it yourself, which is another good life lesson.

Yes, avoid wallpaper. You do want to stay married after all.
