Koran "Mishandled"

Captain Ed points out how the media is obsessing over the 'abuse' of the Koran. Media hyperventilating can be found here and here. MSNBC, as usual, is the worst offender - hyping the story on both its website and the cable channel.

Guess what, guys?

It's a book. Nothing but paper, glue and ink. I know the war isn't popular in America's newsrooms, but this overreaction to the 'desecration' of a book is so silly as to border on the ludicrous. Where is the media outrage when artists desecrate the symbols of other religions? Usually, those artists are lauded for their bravery or vision.

It's time for the media to get some perspective on this war. It's not as though we're...say...beheading captives or driving airplanes full of civilians into buildings.

I hate to dish the Union Hotel since its such an institution, but I can really only recommend the pizza lunch special in the bar. Until a couple of years ago, the Union Hotel and Negris were the only places for a sit-down dinner. Now there are other choices, and I think theyre better (especially the Willow Wood in Graton). But you cant beat the atmosphere in the Unions Bocce Ballroom!
