Governor Gregoire Keeps Her Job - For Now
A judge in Washington state has just ruled that the confirmation of Christine Gregoire as governor should stand. The link takes you to Michelle Malkin's live-blogging of the ruling.
Things are going to get pretty ugly in Washington, I think. Recent polls show that a majority of Washington residents think Rossi won the election, and stories from King County show that while no fraud may have happened, that county has serious problems with its election procedures and poll workers.
I think Rossi should run for Senate in 2006, or get ready to challenge Gregoire in 2008. Once the state supreme court rules, the lawsuit and challenge should end. While it seems to me that Rossi was the winner of the election, eventually one does have to respect the court's interpretation of the law and fight another day. Plus, Rossi should make a speech when it's over similar to that of Gore's first (and only gracious) concession speech - while he disagrees with the court, his supporters should respect its decision. Then he should basically keep a low profile. If he spends all of his time denouncing the governor, I think public support would fall.
If I were Christine Gregoire, I wouldn't get too comfortable in the governor's mansion. 2008 is a long time away, but from what I've seen, there's a lot of anger among voters in that state.
Insta-Update - I would advise Washington state Democrats against reactions like this, though:
FINALLY! Now all you wackos can leave our state! Get it through your head... you are not welcome here! This is a democrat state, we own the gov't, we own the law, and we own you. It's going to be an interesting next couple of years.
Now get....
Buh bye.Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!
LOSERS!
How's that feel, you would-be election stealers?
Get a life, rather than filling up the courts with more frivolous lawsuits, willya? Somehow I doubt it - and you'll mask your lack of evidence with more worthless statistical analysis which everybody knows is as crooked as the GOP is.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!As acting in an unoffical mannor on the Washington State Democratic party I would like to offer the following statement.
HAHAHAHAHA!
One would think, though, that those who support Gregoire would be a bit more, um, eloquent in their celebratory posts. These read like scribblings on a bathroom wall.
Most unintentionally hilarious comment?
We learned golating and spelling from the best..just look in the mirror!Where's Bill Safire when you need him?
