Won't Get Fooled Again
Alexander at PoliPundit says that Republicans are overreacting with the "Not One Dime" campaign against the National Republican Senatorial Committee. He accuses us of wanting to "cut their noses to spite their faces" and calls us "short-sighted" and then, despite all evidence to the contrary, thinks the Republicans will eventually show some backbone:
They fail to recognize that the next time Democrats filibuster a judicial nominee, especially a Supreme Court nominee, Republicans can argue that Democrats broke their promise of not filibustering unless it were “extraordinary circumstances.”Yes, because they've done such a fantastic job arguing for the need to confirm judges, the need for Social Security reform and in the fight to confirm John Bolton.
The reason I'm not giving any money to the Republicans this year is because they've already broken their promises. In the last few election cycles, the Republicans have promised us that if we give them a majority, then they would work to confirm judges and pass legislation.
Well, we worked our tails off to give them a majority, and all we've received in return is dithering and dealmaking. I can't justify giving any more cash or power to people who just have not proven their ability to lead or govern.
