With Friends Like These...
Rightwingsparkle mentions a story that I hadn't heard - that porn magnate Larry Flynt is trying to dig up dirt on John Bolton, President Bush's nominee for Ambassador to the United Nations. Outside the Beltway has more on the story.
I have to say, this is one of those times where I'm just hoping the story is true. A man known for creating pornography doing the dirty work of a major political party? I know Hollywood tried to canonize Flynt in "The People Vs. Larry Flynt," but does anyone really want to be on the same side as this guy?
Once upon a time, Democrats denounced the "politics of personal destruction" and the obsession with the sex lives of public people. Now that it works for them, though, no one in that party seems willing to speak out against the actions of the thoroughly repulsive Flynt.
Come on, guys. This should be an easy one.
